Treatment for Mental Health and Substance Use
Mental health treatment isn’t one-size-fits-all, and as part of our commitment to our patients, we think it’s important to treat the whole person — and that includes people who have mental health disorders and a co-occurring substance use disorder.
What is Dual Diagnosis Treatment?
Dual diagnosis treatment consists of treating both a mental health disorder and a co-occurring substance use disorder simultaneously. Treating just one or the other will not solve the overall problem. By treating both, you or your loved one will be able to prevent relapse and work on taking positive steps forward that last.
How Common is a Co-Occurring Disorder?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Services Health Administration (SAMSHA), over 20 million Americans are currently living with a co-occurring disorder. People struggling with mental health issues, often find themselves struggling with substance use issues and treating both can be key to recovery.
